Welcome to my new blog site!

Ok, so you think that I know what I am doing, well, I don’t and I don’t care…what matters most is a place where I will be writing things, posting things, asking questions, inviting you to be a part of this blog along with connecting with others who also think that what matters most is actually something we should all be thinking about together.  My intent for this blog is about connecting and not just with dots or dot coms, but with one another.  So, what matters most today is learning something new, how to choose a name, a picture, what to eat for dinner and what time to go to bed.  Mundane, yes, but this is how we start….

I realized after seeing Mary Oliver last night, listening to her wise words that it is not always that easy to see, to see on a regular basis what is right in front of me, the moment opening to the many layers of perception.  This is a deep desire to see…this is what matters…..to be able to really completely read a poem, to let it wash inside my mouth and let the images twirl around inside….to slow down, to listen again…this is what matters….so I begin and invite you to join me….

Morning Poem

Every morning
the world
is created.
Under the orange

sticks of the sun
the heaped
ashes of the night
turn into leaves again

and fasten themselves to the high branches —
and the ponds appear
like black cloth
on which are painted islands

of summer lilies.
If it is your nature
to be happy
you will swim away along the soft trails

for hours, your imagination
alighting everywhere.
And if your spirit
carries within it

the thorn
that is heavier than lead —
if it’s all you can do
to keep on trudging —

there is still
somewhere deep within you
a beast shouting that the earth
is exactly what it wanted —

each pond with its blazing lilies
is a prayer heard and answered
lavishly,
every morning,

whether or not
you have ever dared to be happy,
whether or not
you have ever dared to pray.

The morning wind spreads it’s fresh smell,

We must get up and take that in,

that wind that lets us live.

    Breathe before it’s gone.

    Dance when you’re broken open,

Dance if you’ve torn the bandage off,

Dance in the middle of fighting,

    Dance in your blood,

    Dance when you’re perfectly free.

Hope is what matters most for me recently. This past year has been brutally rough for so many loved ones– terminal cancer and divorce and “losing the farm” stories are all too common. As I was finding little reason to get out of bed myself in the morning, I was inspired by the survivor angels to allow myself a whole bucket list all rolled into one…'”what matters most’ is getting out of bed and on with the spirit seeking. I got my fair share of cortisone injections in order to start training…….On March 29th I leave for the 500 mile Camino de Santiago in Spain. Walking the whole way, just the pack on my back. I will be 68 shortly and am excited again, even if I hocked the IRA to do it…wise counsel said “don’t plan too much”. “Let spirit guide you and go with the flow”. So here I go. Lizbeth, thanks for creating this space and inviting us all to share the journey with one another. Wendy

    • Hope is embedded deep in our wiring and not between our ears, but in our hearts. Wendy to hear of your travels, to not plan too much and let the spirit guide you feeds my own hope bucket to the brim! Great walk and will train with you as much as I can before you depart for Spain…Blessed be!

    • I love that you find this space to leave a message and charity is an honerable word that goes all the way to the bone. Yes, thank you, next post is brewing! You are free to return again and again!

    • Penny, may we all find the way through our lives that builds a deeper vessel inside to allow the heart to do what it is meant to do….connect.

  6. Lizbeth, I’ve just found your website and I have to tell you that the first thing I though of was the Mary Oliver quote that I too heard that night. Not until I scrolled to your first entry, did I know that it was Mary Oliver who helped inspire your act. Blessings indeed.
    “Instructions for living a life.
    Pay attention.
    Be astonished.
    Tell about it.”
    ― Mary Oliver
